Computer graphics is undergoing its most significant transformation since the invention of the GPU. Neural Shading represents the convergence of AI and traditional rendering, opening unprecedented possibilities for real-time visual experiences that were once thought impossible. At NVIDIA, we're not just observing this revolution—we're leading it. Our Neural Graphics team sits at the epicenter of this transformation, where pioneering research meets world-changing products used by millions of developers and creators worldwide. Through innovations like Slang—our open-source language and compiler for portable real-time graphics programming—we're enabling developers to seamlessly integrate AI-driven neural techniques into graphics workloads, continuously pushing the boundaries of what's possible when AI meets graphics.

We're looking for an outstanding Principal Engineer to be a driving force in this evolution. You'll bring diverse thinking and deep expertise in generative AI and simulation technologies to our production team, serving as the crucial bridge between breakthrough research and shipping products. This is your opportunity to define an entirely new field while working with unlimited compute resources, the latest hardware, and the brightest minds in graphics and AI. Does this sound like you? If you're passionate about pushing boundaries and want to impact computer graphics, this role offers an outstanding opportunity to invent the future of visual computing!

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Define and drive NVIDIA's Neural Graphics technology strategy, setting company-level technical directions for AI-driven rendering

  • Pioneer state-of-the-art neural shading techniques that integrate with traditional graphics pipelines

  • Connect research and product teams to develop modern concepts into production-ready technologies

  • Drive progress in AI innovation for real-time graphics and simulation technologies

  • Collaborate across teams to influence hardware design and establish technical standards for neural shading

  • Drive patent development and IP strategy while making technical decisions crucial to major product success

What We Need to See:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, or equivalent experience

  • 15+ years of proven experience with a sustained history of remarkable technical contributions, or equivalent outstanding achievements

  • Extensive knowledge of real-time rendering, neural networks, and physics simulation

  • Background in world models, neural content generation, or AI technologies redefining entertainment, graphics, and media creation

  • Track record of successful technology transfers from research to shipping products

  • Proven track record to lead complex technical projects across teams and take research from concept to production

Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd:

  • Experience covering fields like graphics, AI, physics, with a background in emerging areas such as neural radiance fields or differentiable rendering

  • Non-traditional background bringing fresh approaches and interdisciplinary expertise from fields like neuroscience or materials science

  • Industry recognition as a leader with a point of view through conference presentations, awards, or contributions to graphics/AI projects

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 248,000 USD - 391,000 USD.
