Job Summary:

SAP S/4 Technical Fiori, ABAP, BTP, AI & Automation Architect

We are looking for a seasoned SAP S/4 Technical Fiori, ABAP, BTP, AI & Automation Architect to lead the technical design, intelligent automation, and development strategy across our SAP Bank Analyzer and S/4HANA Finance transformation program. This role will be instrumental in defining scalable, high-performance, and AI-driven solutions aligned with our enterprise architecture standards and digital finance roadmap. You will collaborate closely with functional leads, business stakeholders, and integration partners to deliver robust, future-ready technical solutions across core S/4 modules, with a focus on Finance, automation, custom code modernization, and platform extensibility. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Acts as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers on the project or within the system
• Determines the technical tasks that other engineers will follow
• Actions result in the achievement of customer, operational, program or service objectives
• Proactively improves existing structures & processes
• Exercises judgement in reconciling diverse and competing priorities (time, quality, complexity risk) to identify optimal solutions to problems
• Notices patterns and condenses repetition into densely meaningful generalized solutions
• Collaborates with management to set/improve standards for engineering rigor
• Trusted to represent PayPal, Inc to the outside world via interactions with partners, customers, or industry organizations

Expected Qualifications:

• 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the SAP S/4HANA technical and automation architecture strategy, including ABAP development, enhancements, Fiori/UI5, CDS views, extensibility, and AI/ML integration frameworks.

• Lead custom code remediation, performance optimization, and automation modernization during S/4 migration.

• Collaborate with functional area leads (e.g., R2R, P2P, O2C) to translate business requirements into intelligent, scalable technical solutions.

• Guide development teams on coding standards, automation frameworks, AI-assisted development, and deployment practices.

• Design and build APIs, intelligent interfaces, and automated integration logic across SAP and non-SAP systems using SAP BTP and AI services.

• Drive adherence to security, SOX, audit, and AI governance standards across all technical and automation artifacts.

• Support test strategy, data conversions, automation scripts, cutover activities, and hypercare from a technical and AI/automation perspective.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of SAP ABAP development experience, with a strong track record in architecting complex, automated SAP solutions.

• At least one full-cycle SAP S/4HANA implementation, including modern ABAP on HANA, CDS, AMDP, RAP, and automation frameworks.

• Expertise in S/4 Finance (ACDOCA, Universal Journal) and advanced familiarity with AI-enhanced financial processes and predictive analytics.

• Hands-on experience with Fiori/UI5, OData services, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and SAP AI Core/AI Launchpad.

• Proven ability to lead technical and AI design workshops, manage offshore/onshore development teams, and align with enterprise architecture.

• Strong understanding of system performance tuning, code optimization, process automation (RPA, IRPA), and transport management.

• Familiarity with SAP tools such as SAP ATC, SCI, SPAU/SPDD, Solution Manager, and AI/automation orchestration tools preferred.
