We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

PayPal, Inc. seeks Senior Data Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Lead, develop, and grow a high performance, multi-function team of talented and passionate professionals, who are results driven to take the business forward and demonstrate superior leadership in line with the PayPal values. Build scalable systems on Hadoop/Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and integrate with multiple applications. Lead technical discussions, participate in software code reviews, guide the team in engineering best practices. Write quality software code and build secure, highly available systems. Provide technical leadership and contribute to the definition, development, integration, test, documentation, and support across multiple platforms (GCP, SAP HANA, FI/CO, Bank Analyzer(sAFI/FPSL), S/4HANA, Hadoop, and Python). Evaluate requirements, map them to business processes, create functional and solution architectures, and ensure a proper implementation. Architect the end-to-end functional software landscape and solution design to support the to-be business processes. Provide direction to the implementation teams and work as intermediary across the local, near-shore and offshore teams. Utilize knowledge and experience with balancing production platform stability, feature delivery, and retirement of technical debt across a broad landscape of technologies. Partial telecommuting permitted from a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Data Analytics, Engineering, and Software Development across the full data lifecycle. (2 years)
2. Collaborate with business partners and development teams to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring technical specifications align with business objectives. (2 years)
3. Engage in production support tasks, including optimizing reporting processes and performing regular reconciliations for various reports on daily, monthly, and quarterly bases. (2 years)
4. Big Data ecosystems, including hands-on experience with HDFS, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, or Ranger. (2 years)
5. Advanced SQL skills for complex data analysis, validation, and integrity. (2 years)
6. Developing impactful BI dashboards using Tableau and QlikView for diverse business requirements. (2 years)
7. ETL processes for data integration and transformation tasks. (2 years)
8. Extensive experience in seamless data migration from Hadoop Hive to another cloud environment. (1 year)
9. Proficient in data manipulation and machine learning, with expertise in Python for file handling and data cleansing, and hands-on experience developing and implementing machine learning solutions in R or Python. (2 years)

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
San Jose, California | $149,365.00-198,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
