Job Summary:

We are part of the Global Servicing Team under the Core Platforms Organization — the group that empowers PayPal’s customers through the Self-Service PayPal Assistant (an AI-powered customer chatbot) and supports our Customer Support teams with cutting-edge tools and technologies to efficiently resolve customer issues.
What You Need to Know About the Role:
In this role, you will develop enterprise-grade Java and Node.js applications that tackle complex problems for over 400+ million PayPal consumers and merchants worldwide. You will also play a key role in designing and building the next generation of AI-powered customer service tools, spanning both internal and customer-facing applications.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations), based on definitions from more senior roles.
  • Advises immediate management on project-level issues
  • Guides junior engineers
  • Operates with little day-to-day supervision, making technical decisions based on knowledge of internal conventions and industry best practices
  • Applies knowledge of technical best practices in making decisions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Design, build, test, release, monitor and provide live support for complex multi-tiered software technical features based on product requirements.

Work with scrum teams and product managers using agile methodologies to deliver high quality software solutions in a timely manner.

Collaborate effectively with peer application teams and architecture team to solve complex technical problems spanning their respective areas.

Write detailed technical documentation to provide detailed technical requirements to the software developers and quality analysts.

Provide technical expertise to the cross-functional team in resolving technical software issues.

Work constantly on improvising the existing functionalities of the software systems and solutions.

Backend Engineering : Java, Springboot
Frontend development : Node.Js, Next.JS (Know hows)
Software Architecture - Experience with software design patterns, code refactoring, and CI/CD pipelines

Deployment : Cloud-native architectures, microservices, distributed systems

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

Exposure familiarity of open-source frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, LangFlow
Familiarity with prompt engineering, chaining, memory, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), MCP and observability in LLM-based applications
