Job Summary:

Job Description:

PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Data Scientist in San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Conduct rigorous data analysis using machine learning models and advanced statistical methods to improve customer experiences and identify profitable growth opportunities. Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, design, and marketing teams to build world-class products, leveraging A/B testing frameworks and hypothesis-driven experiments to drive data-backed decisions. Improve product experiences for 200+ million customers by applying predictive modeling, clustering, and other machine learning techniques to uncover insights and optimize user interactions. Leverage the Objective & Key Results (OKR) framework to identify and track product metrics, ensuring data accuracy through automated pipelines and real-time dashboards. Present findings and recommendations to senior level/non-technical stakeholders, translating complex data insights into actionable strategies. Deliver statistical analyses and experimental design techniques to understand customer behavior, optimize new feature launches, and inform product prioritization. Build automation for data collection, processing, and visualization, ensuring seamless reporting and monitoring of key performance indicators. Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, ensuring analytical rigor in all business recommendations. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Analytics, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Experience extracting actionable insights from large and complex datasets using data mining techniques (2 years)

2. Experience writing advanced queries and managing relational databases using SQL (2 years)

3. Experience designing and analyzing experiments to inform product decisions using A/B testing methodologies (2 years)

4. Experience applying statistical tests including ANOVA to validate hypotheses and assess significance (2 years)

5. Experience building and interpreting models for prediction and inference using statistical modeling techniques (2 years)

6. Experience implementing, tuning, and deploying machine learning algorithms for business applications (2 years)

7. Experience performing data analysis and modeling using statistical programming languages such as Python and R (2 years)

8. Experience creating dashboards and communicating insights through visual storytelling using Tableau and Looker (2 years)

9. Experience building, automating, and maintaining robust data pipelines to support scalable analytics (2 years)

10. Experience defining tracking requirements and ensuring accurate data capture for analysis using data instrumentation best practices (2 years)

11. Experience processing large-scale unstructured data using distributed computing tools like Hadoop and Hive (2 years)

12. Experience building data-supported business cases and quantifying impact potential of product and business opportunities through opportunity sizing (2 years)

13. Experience analyzing user data to shape product strategy and guide feature development through product analytics (2 years)

14. Experience measuring marketing effectiveness and optimizing campaign performance using marketing analytics (1 year)

15. Experience leveraging web data to improve user engagement and experience through web analytics (1 year)

16. Experience identifying behavioral patterns and trends to understand customer needs using consumer behavioral analytics (2 years)

17. Experience creating data-driven customer segments for targeted strategies using segmentation techniques (2 years)

18. Experience working closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to align on goals and drive execution (2 years)

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Primary Location | Pay Range:

San Jose, California | $144,991.00-243,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
