JOB SUMMARY:

  • Reporting to the Director of Global Security - APAC, the Regional Senior Security Manager (SSM) oversees all security operations across Japan and South Korea, including security for events, studio and TV productions,
  • asset and content protection, investigative support, travel, security technology, and incident monitoring. This role requires strategic, analytical expertise in risk assessment, security planning, and emergency response.
  • The SSM collaborates closely with Disney's Global Security teams, APAC business units, third-party security providers, and law enforcement, managing security risks and responding to incidents to ensure safety and compliance. Regular travel within the region is required.
  • The SSM for Japan and South Korea is based in Tokyo and oversees a security manager located in Seoul, who is responsible for South Korea

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and mitigate security risks, implementing programs to protect employees, assets, and business operations from threats including theft, vandalism, and emergencies.
  • Establish and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards to safeguard intellectual property, facilities, and business operations.
  • Monitor threat levels and advise on security adjustments as needed.
  • Manage the security and safety protocols across all TDS facilities (Japan only).
  • Manage the site Business Assurance (BA) program, addressing control weaknesses through remediation measures.
  • Support regional security systems projects in partnership with the Technical Security SSM.
  • Develop and execute customized incident management (IM) and emergency response (EM) plans for each site, events, stores and other business activities.
  • Facilitate regular training and preparedness exercises with APAC Risk and Crisis Response teams.

Facilitate and lead the Health and Safety Committee as the designated safety officer for TWDCJ, promoting a proactive approach to workplace safety, conducting regular safety audits, fire prevention, developing safety training programs and compliance with safety standards (Japan only).
  • Oversee the disaster management protocols for the facilities, ensuring adherence to best practices and building codes related to emergencies (Japan only).
  • Oversee the Disney Alerts system to enhance employee awareness and accountability.
  • Track and analyze trends in asset loss, leading efforts to prevent future incidents.
  • Build and maintain a network of resources for regional risk assessment, investigations, intelligence gathering, and security system enhancements.
  • Coordinate and conduct security investigations across the region, updating management on any security concerns.
  • Cultivate relationships with internal stakeholders, including country heads, site leaders, and business representatives.
  • Foster professional relationships with local law enforcement, government, and private sector counterparts to support regional security goals.
  • Provide monthly security reports and incident summaries and contribute to the annual security budget.
  • Ensure vendor performance meets contractual standards, recommending improvements as needed.

QUAIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and local language, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive experience in physical and information security, content security, event risk management, and crisis management.
  • Strong analytical skills in risk assessment and security planning, with proven success in implementing effective control measures.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a matrixed organization, managing multiple stakeholders and projects efficiently.
  • Strong project management skills, including vendor management and SLA/KPI performance tracking.
  • Experience in conducting investigations and tailoring security approaches for diverse client needs.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a readiness for variable working hours and regional travel.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster cross-functional partnerships and navigate cultural diversity.
  • Familiarity with feature film and TV production, post-production workflows, and security requirements is a plus.
