About the Role & Team

Curious to learn more? Rockwork Engineering is responsible for structural engineering including design, analysis, calculations and specifications for the interior and exterior rockwork elements of area development and themed attractions.

This is a Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for rockwork structural engineering design, analyses, calculations and specifications for larger projects of medium complexity
  • Organize and develop project design criteria and engineering work plans for projects of varying complexity
  • Monitor work progress and ensure that technical quality, interdisciplinary coordination and production requirements are met
  • Monitor performance against the project design schedule, budget and earned value
  • Become completely familiar with and be able to edit structural and rockwork sections of WDI master specifications.
  • Take responsibility for obtaining building department approvals when required
  • Answer construction bid period questions and respond to and resolve field issues and questions
  • May have Engineer of Record responsibility
  • Provide technical direction to in-house engineers and designers, and to outside consultants in the production of construction contract documents
  • May lead a small team of rockwork engineers and designers in the production of construction documents for multiple attractions of medium complexity through all phases of design
  • May direct US-based consultants to whom design is outsourced for WDI projects world-wide

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Working knowledge of structural engineering including current technologies and codes
  • General knowledge of the structural engineering discipline, including industry practices, construction methods and materials, codes, current technology and the preparation and use of contract documents in all phases of design and construction
  • Knowledge of the use of 3D CAD and analytical software for structural engineering design
  • 6 or more years of work experience in structural and/or rockwork engineering
  • 2 or more years managing a small team of structural or rockwork engineers and designers in the production of contract documents for construction
  • Construction phase experience including the submittal/shop drawing review process and on-site field inspections

Required Education

  • Graduate of an accredited engineering school with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Professional registration in Civil Engineering

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Registration as a Florida SE is desirable
  • An advanced degree in the structural engineering field is preferred

The hiring range for this position in California is $113,800.00-$152,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
