This role reports to the Manager of the Design Integration Team
What You Will Do
Your role is to work as the owner’s representative or design team, to provide structural engineering design responsibilities for steel, concrete, and wood-framed commercial and industrial facilities. You will use your diverse experience in structural engineering in an industrial/commercial environment to define strategies for new structural systems as well as the long-term maintenance of structural components in buildings. Every day is different. On any given day, you might:
- Perform and review condition assessments and develop design repair details to prolong an asset’s life.
- Coordinate Consultants hired to perform structural engineering.
- Provide direction and ongoing design oversight to develop structural designs of building systems crafted by consultants. Design support structural systems from small to large scale projects.
- Perform peer reviews of structural designs by third parties.
- Work closely with maintenance teams, operations and executives on the options to manage structural assets.
- Compile construction documents and specifications.
- Perform field investigations of older assets.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for project management teams.
- Provide research for existing structural drawings, designs, and calculations.
- Assist with permitting applications with the Authority Having Jurisdiction, Central Florida Tourism Oversight District(CFTOD).
Required Qualifications & Skills
- PE license in the State of Florida or a registered PE in another State with the ability to become licensed within six months of employment.
- Continued employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining all necessary Florida professional licenses and certifications within six months of the start date.
- 7+ years of experience in the design of steel, concrete, and wood structures.
- Experience in the assessment of corrosion of steel structures.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of both technical (structural analysis) and administrative application software.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT and RISA3D.
- Experience presenting to partners who do not have an engineering background.
- Ability to multi-task and self-motivate – you can keep many plates spinning, and can do so without being micro-managed.
- Dedication to continuing education and ongoing training to improve and build your skills.
- Flexibility to work some nights, weekends, and holidays, according to the project.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with BIM360/Autodesk ACC
Education
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited curriculum
