The Enterprise Environmental Sustainability Team at The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) is part of the Global Public Policy organization which is responsible for the development of company-wide environmental sustainability goals and targets.

The team provides support and oversight of implementation of the goals as well as environmental data analysis and reporting. Collaboration with key corporate functions and business segments including Parks & Resorts, Cruise Lines, Movie & TV Production, Consumer Products, Sourcing and others is a central aspect of the team’s responsibility. As aggregators of enterprise-wide environmental performance and initiative inventories, the team provides strategic insights to help reduce Disney’s environmental impacts, manage environmental risks, and seek environmental opportunities to maximize value from the company’s environmental efforts.

The Value Chain Emissions team within the Enterprise Environmental Sustainability Team is responsible for developing TWDC’s Scope 3 emissions inventory including data gathering, reporting, and continuous improvement. The team also partners with segment teams across the enterprise to support strategy development and implementation of supply chain efforts to meet TWDC’s Scope 3 targets. As part of the Value Chain Emissions team, the Analyst role will support the Value Chain Emissions team with Scope 3 inventory preparation focusing in data gathering, data management, and results visualization.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist with data collection process: collect large data sets from a variety of internal and external sources, organize data, clean and transform data into needed formats for further analysis, and prepare and maintain templates as needed for data collection and calculations.
  • Support emissions methodology development and calculation execution: perform value chain emission calculations (using a variety of approaches including spend based and activity-based approaches) following guidance provided by senior staff, support in research of developing methodologies and best practices, and support development and maintenance of standardized approaches to calculating value chain and embodied carbon emissions from representative types of consumer products, content productions, building types etc.
  • Support inventory analysis and 3rd party verification: conduct QA/QC of input data and calculations, troubleshoot inconsistencies in data or calculations, support development of inventory results and KPIs, and assist in completion of internal validation and 3rd party verification of data and calculations. Utilize inventory to support reporting and progress tracking needs.
  • Lead documentation expansion: manage development of documentation library and formal processes to track processes and methodologies relevant for inventory calculation, inventory review, internal progress tracking, and regulatory readiness.
  • Support future development of Disney’s Scope 3 inventory: project manage ingestion of Scope 3 data into environmental data systems, help maintain roadmap for inventory, and document stakeholder input into inventory. Support forecasting and planning.
  • Assist with internal stakeholder engagement: Develop and maintain credibility with a large network of internal partners, conduct regular follow-ups during data collection, validation, verification processes. Participate in frequent meetings, communicate status of data collection and calculation activities. Help team coordinate with large internal and external stakeholder networks.
  • Support visualizations: develop presentations, create informative visual depiction of input data and output calculations, and guide creation of internal education resources.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 0-2 years experience in energy or environmental industry with focus on analytical projects
  • Background in Scope 3 emissions, environmental sustainability, GHG Protocol, lifecycle analyses, environmental inventories
  • Software: Excel, Programming scripts, Tableau, Power BI

Education:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in environmental science, engineering
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $71,000 to $95,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
