Here are a few reasons why we think you’d love working here:

1. Building the future of Disney’s media: Our Technologists are designing and building the products and platforms that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.

3. Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms and solve complex and distinctive technical problems.

Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality engineering, and the engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

As a Software Development in Test Engineer within DEEP&T, you will touch the lives of Disney fans around the world, working on innovative digital products and platforms from Disney, ESPN, National Geographic, ABC, Marvel, Star Wars and more.

You will be a contributor on the Quality Engineering team, whose primary goal is continually improving the quality of the products that Disney is known for while decreasing time-to-market and enabling innovation. This role makes you a stakeholder in every digital property developed and released by the DEEP&T group, as well as the platforms and enterprise applications that power them.

You will be an integral part of a small group of talented and driven software engineers dedicated to building infrastructure, tools, reports, and services that enable product engineering teams to deliver all Disney digital applications with the quality and reliability expected by our guests.

When these systems work as intended, they drive better customer experiences, increase trust in our platform, and reduce costs associated with bugs in production. As an SDET, you will play a crucial role in strengthening test automation strategies, leading quality initiatives, and championing a culture of engineering excellence.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a talented and collaborative team, with the autonomy to influence test architecture and the support to drive meaningful change. The ideal candidate is innovative, proactive, and thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

  • Develop automated test frameworks and suites on UI, API and Integration levels of testing using java, python or other OO language

  • Assist with triage, diagnosis, and resolution of issues discovered across teams.
  • Contribute to end-to-end acceptance tests
  • Where necessary, develop and execute manual test cases to detect issues that cannot be detected through automated means
  • Drive the conversion of manual tests to automated whenever possible
  • Developing and supporting high quality code to build and enhance automation, quality infrastructure, and innovative proof-of-concepts
  • Investigating and troubleshooting issues across our services and driving them to resolution
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of infrastructure, frameworks, and pipelines that verify backend services and APIs across multiple products

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field or equivalent years of professional experience.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in a software development (SDET, SE, SRE) occupation, including automated and/or unit testing of front end and/or backend services
  • Experienced in object-oriented design and expertise with one of the following programming languages: Python, Java, Node/JavaScript
  • Experience working with high-performing teams using Agile and Lean methodologies
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to use standard software development lifecycle (SDLC) tools such as Jira and Confluence, and version control systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience shipping production Python, Flask, Django, React or Node.js applications.
  • Experience with developing and deploying applications in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) and optimizing cost efficiency.
  • Experience with Kafka, Amazon SQS, and Kinesis
  • Experience writing Gherkin Syntax to facilitate the development of automated test scenarios.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, and continuous integration/delivery systems.
  • Experience with testcase and/or issue management (e.g. JIRA, Xray), code management (e.g. git, SonarQube) and data visualization (e.g. Grafana, Data Dog) tools.
